O B J E C T I V E S
A State Court System’s dispute resolution program expanded to offer presumptive mediation in most courts. They ensured process quality by requiring all mediators to complete court-approved training.
Challenges: Trainees were lawyers, court staff, judges, and other professionals, aged 25 to 70, and a diversity of racial, gender, ability, and work backgrounds. Since each had their own approach to resolving matters; the course had to be informative, valuable, and engaging.
S O L U T I O N
Applying the Court’s robust guidelines and objectives, we designed a Court-certified 24-hour Initial Mediation Training that explored approaches to conflict, de-escalation skills, movement techniques, finding solutions that meet the parties’ needs, and included group problem-solving and simulations.
We later partnered with the Courts to offer other courses including Advanced Commercial Mediation and Anti-Bias in Mediation. Since 2020, we have provided nearly a dozen mediation and advanced resolution trainings.

O B J E C T I V E S
A national service org, with 3400 full and part-time staff in 102 cities, helps over 70,000 people each year. At their annual conference, they sought to improve conflict resolution skills for front-line staff and leaders.
Challenges: Each year, we trained several new cohorts totaling 100 attendees, ranging in age from 18-60, and a diversity of racial, geographic, gender, ability, educational, and work backgrounds. We had to create a program that was inviting and engaging for all.
S O L U T I O N
Created a 3.5-hour workshop that explored personal approaches to conflict, identifying interests, and deescalation skills. Over three days, taught four cohorts of 22-28 participants with 98% favorable feedback.
From 2017-2022, provided this training at three in-person conferences in CA, MS, and MI and two virtual conferences. In 2020, the organizers moved to a virtual format and ultimately transitioned to integrative programming. With each change, Fisher Beacon restructured lessons for peak engagement.

An international finance company with over 600 employees, headquartered in the UK and CA, sought virtual training support. Quick growth tracked with increased interpersonal conflict and HR complaints.
Colleagues and clients reported problematic treatment ranging from insensitively themed corporate events to discriminatory remarks. The company feared recent incidents would tarnish its reputation and ability to recruit top talent.
S O L U T I O N
Tailored a 2-day virtual DEI workshop to their unique company needs and common issues in the finance field. Training cohorts included continental and office directors (required) and general staff (voluntary). Over one year, trained over 100 people in five countries.
Created a 15-hr virtual mediation training for C-suite and HR focused on helping employees resolve disputes early. Leaders trained in DEI, mediation, and conflict coaching skills. The project included design feedback for their internal dispute resolution systems.
